Invest in the present!!!

"The 3 A's of awesome" - talk by Neil Pasricha on TED got me to write this today, the talk was great and mentioned in detail how we forget to count the awesome things and that we most often simply overlook them. Neil's talk got me to think how much the day-to-day activities occupy me off-late and prevent me from making the most of the limited time I have here to "LIVE".

There are so many things in this world to be amazed about, to be amused about, to be passionate about, to smile at, to experience, to be learnt, and like Neil says even a lucky 100 years are just not enough. Well now that I have been hit by the talk, I will remember that my most important resource viz., TIME needs to be invested wisely.

Agreeing with Bill Watterson "It's indeed a magical world, lets go exploring!!!"

all but one in this world is "relative"

unlike the regular weekends that are either too occupied or too boring, this surely was very different. It was neither quick nor too slow, neither too boring nor too exciting, neither too crowded nor just myself, neither too free nor too demanding, (I could go on and on I guess, probably the effect of the weekend). This is the closest my weekend has ever come towards the phrase "The PERFECT weekend". It was a blend of everything in appropriate measures(debatable).

Saturday, was at home with lots of rest, healthy food, a visit to "Klip Point", a visit to the furniture-mart with a friend, a small derive for some bank work and some time on mobile with friends. Ended with some goof-ups on the phone, sending messages to the wrong person. All in all a rejuvenating Saturday.

Sunday started off with lazing on the bed till Mr. Sun would say "boy! get up now, else you may miss the sunset". Followed by a leisurely bath and a heavy lunch at MTR after a nice drive on the quite and empty roads towards WhiteField, the Sunday was just set right. Couple of friends visiting in the evening added the missing element of the Sunday. To finally decorate the cake with the final cherry was the match between Germany and England with 6 (or, I should say 5 officially) goals being scored.

Amazing weekend though I'm not sure if I should ask all my weekends to learn to be like this one. May be not, having a few busy weekends, or a few boring weekends probably makes this weekend look far better, after-all all but one in this world is "relative"

Shumachers of Blore

Early morning, a car was being parked on one side of a road. There was one person to direct the driver to the right spot on a 50ft wide road in a residential area with no traffic. Though I could not see why 2 ppl were required to park the car, what caught my attension more was the reverse horn of the car... I went like the tunes of a bhajan... Guess in Bangalore, thts required... Only God can save one in this traffic...

Guess all of us become Shumacher on a race track the moment we get into the car. Not to forget the two-wheeers who give the Shumachers of Blore roads a stiff competition. As-if all the chaos was not enough ppl try their artistic mind on the horns. I really dont get which song they are trying to horn-out but what I appreciate is their willigness to practice at it. Sometimes it as though ppl sitting on the horn of their vehicles.

Well being a part of this chaos, Im doing my bit everyday to add to it. Hope things get better, Im considering cycling, but Im not too sure if its prctical in this traffic and for the distance I need to go. Car pooling is the other option. Hope I can do my bit to ease the tension here without simply adding to it.

Im back!!!

Finally got my net connection... And now can blog from home... Getting the connection was a long wait... It took 3.5 months after appying for the same... Yes this blog is being posted on the 17th day of the 12th month of the year 2007.... It did take 3.5 months to get the connection in this information era...

Not sure what's not keeping up... Only ydy was I in college discussing if the max speed of data transfer can exceed the speed of light... Well how does it matter if processing the information takes 3.5 months... Not sure if its the manufacturing industry thts lagging. I was told the delay was due to unavailability of modems. Why is there a dearth of modems when I want a net connection? Murphy's Law applies again I guess....

Neways moral of the story "Im back!!!"

The Cable Guy...

We did ride by this place to get a cable connection, or rather to enquire how we could go abt getting a cable connection in our hostel-room. It was me and two other friends of mine... We rode on our cycles searching for the cable guy, I mean the cable office. We did make a few wrong turns but finally managed to get there. Just as I was parking my cycle, I found this tall man standing at the entrance of the cable-office.... Wait!!! whoz this... was it him... yes it was.... "Come-on boy run....", yelled my instincts... "you don't want to be caught at at the cable-office by a prof". ooops it indeed was my prof.... Not that he would have chided or even questioned us. But somehow it just didn't seem the right place to meet a prof.... I turned my cycle only to find the other two friends had already caught speed. I peddled away as fast as possible to catch up with them.... We cycled around till the arena was clear and only then went back..... :)

A new meaning to life...

A key-chain was something that was of only aesthetic value till the 20th of July 2005. Things changed drastically after this date. Even a key-chain found its exact meaning. From the day I moved out of Home to this rural place, a lot of objects have found their right meanings. Just putting a few here....

1. Key-Chain (Then): :Object with only aesthetic value. Some way to spend a few extra money and make you feel good about it.
Key-Chain (Now): :A very useful tool that helps you to not lose your keys.

2. Surf(Then): :Something that I had nothing to do with but fetch it from the retailer.
Surf(Now): :A very useful colored powder that magically removes the foul smell from my socks. "Surf Excel He naa..."

3. Broom(Then): : An object that I never bothered to handle.
Broom(Now): : Actually removes the mud and dust with just a single sweep (Technology you see)

4. Lunch(Then): : Time for good fun with friends or family. A treat for the tongue.
Lunch(Now): : Time that reminds you –“Man needs food and water to live”. A requirement for the stomach.

5. Cycle(Then): : An immovable object in the Gym to keep you fit. The movable version that’s used only as a first step to two-wheeler.
Cycle(Now): : One of the most strenuous means of transport to take you places only if you have eaten well enough to peddle.

I'll be back soon, wont I?

15 days to go... I’m already feeling so low... (hey that’s rhyming... :) )

I'll miss my office. I'll miss my outlook. I'll miss my colleagues. I'll miss my sweet home. I'll miss my Bangalore. I'll miss Bangaloreans. I'll miss everybody. I'll miss you (yes reader u).

Boy! People ask me whenz my last day and I say 15th July 2005 trying to sound normal. But deep inside I hope 15th takes a long time to come. I’ve been in Bangalore ever since I’ve seen this world. Bangalore and Bangaloreans are my world. Now I ‘am going to be away for 2 years!!! Away from all those who were mine, my home, my friends. Jesus!! I can’t take this!!! How can I be away for 2 years?? I cannot. I cannot. It seems like a point of no return. Man 2 years is long time

But time will go on I know and in just 1296000 seconds I have to depart. Huh!!! just 1296000 seconds. Mummy!!! I have to leave Blore. Be all on myself. Slog in the world where you have to prove every moment to live the next. Prove your worth. And that too with no shoulders to fall back and cry on when I want to. I’ve never experienced anything this hard to digest. Man life is hard.

It’s a mixed feeling. I know I’m going with purpose and it’s unavoidable. I know it’s not the end of the world and it’s probably a new beginning. But to leave all, all that was yours from day 1 and be relocated to a place surrounded by strangers is definitely not easy. I never knew I was so attached to all of you. I never thought it will ever be painful for me to leave. Its only when you are going to miss something that you realize how much you needed it.

Hey what's going on? I’m not this senti guy who takes life too seriously. Relax... Easy Anoop easy... Come on. Be a Man.

I’m actually trying nowadays to cling on to everything possible. I stay late at office. I play with my dog. I chat a lot with my parents. I’m desperately trying to meet up with friends. I’m still a kid... a kid.. (as one of my friend rightly calls me). I need u guys. I cannot leave.

My only ray of hope is to come back after 2 years. Right back to my sweet home. As one of my friend said "Nothing is going to stop you from coming back." Yes! I will be back into each one of your lives and bump into to you and say "Hi. I’m back." But for now I can only hope to be back.

What say guys " I'll be back soon, wont I?"

PS: I can’t believe I’m blogging such senti stuff. But that’s all that I can think now. May be I should grow up.
