To Err Is Human

I’m not sure I should be making this public. But I guess I will not be able to sleep if I don’t confess. I along with four other friends committed a crime. A sin. A mistake.

Though the idea came up the previous day itself , the plans were finalized only on Sunday afternoon. We decided to hit the target at 4pm. The time-zero for the operation was 5pm. The place was on the outskirts of Bangalore. On reaching there we had to win a big fight to get into the cold room. It was sparsely lit. All set and the mistake was about to happen. We were about to watch “Paheli”. Trust me! This definitely was a mistake. The movie itself was a mistake and watching it was an even more grave mistake.

“Daddy!! What’s happening in the movie?” cried a 6 yr old. It was a loud shout that coincided with a moment of silence in the movie. My friends and I laughed at the back. I guess that was the only time I laughed during the movie. Let alone laughter, the movie did not bring any kind of emotion (except for anger of having watched it … :). I should have rather sat at home and watched the ceiling. ‘Boring’, irksome’, ‘ho-hum’, ‘dull’ are all actually compliments for the movie. English needs stronger adjectives to describe this film. Coming out of the theatre, I told my fellow friend waiting for the next show “ Even if you manage to sell the ticket for half the price, you will still be making profit.” I was a learned man eh! Experience is the best teacher… :)

Its circumstance that drives people into committing mistakes. So was our case. We hadn’t got tickets to “Batman Begins”, “Parineeta”, or “Anniyan”. So we made this mistake of watching “Paheli”. I hope my friends and I are forgiven for this mistake like we have forgiven the makers of this movie. After all “To Err is Human”

The Language of the GODs

Me attended an interview. An interview for a college admission. There on the other side of the table were the Gods of their subjects sitting to check how minute my knowledge was. There were 3 Gods I guess or errrrrr wait may be, 4. You bet, after such an interview i actually have even forgotten to count. The interview was extremely entertaining, I mean very entertaining for the Gods.

Now as people ask, why did I ever choose to get interviewed by the Gods. I guess the Gods were the ones who called this poor chap (me ofcourse) to the interview. I was ready to accept admission without the interview...:) But they wanted it.

There I was in the cold room, ready to get murdered. The Gods were ready for the kill. It was all about to start. I was sneezing with a bad cold. And the fight began.

The first question "What is your subject of choice? DSP (or) Communication?"
What!!!! I thought there were more subjects in my field of study. Now come on give me more choices.

Me: "Communications"
When on earth did I last study communications? Hmmm… I don’t even remember when!!!!

Then continued a series of questions. My God! all this is Greek! or may be Latin! Not sure what the Gods were talking of. May be its just that they did not start their day well!! Poor Gods! I hope they weren't scolding me. It didn't sound like. A couple of lines here and there were the only things that I understood. Those few sentences were enlightenment for me.

Happy to be out of the room. The interview or rather the fight with the Gods was over. The Gods had defined a new syllabus for me to prepare before I attended the next interview. I left the place with a list of topics to learn.

May be someday I will understand the language of the Gods.
